2 Swansea City players who could and maybe should be loaned out this summer
The Swans went through a transitional campaign under Russell Martin after he replaced Steve Cooper as manager last summer.
That saw the club settle for a mid-table finish without any drastic changes to the structure of the coaching team.
Fresh optimism arose in the closing weeks of the season as Martin’s side began to play more free-flowing football that showed signs of potential promise.
But it could yet be a busy summer ahead as the former MK Dons manager looks to improve his first team squad.
Here are two Swansea players who could and maybe should be loaned out this transfer window…
The 18-year old made his first team debut in 2021-22, coming off the bench three times in the league and even earning two starts.
His debut came in a 1-0 loss to Blackpool in March in which he earned a four minute cameo to close out the game.
Congreve’s first start came in late April when Swansea visited the City Ground and were hammered 5-1 by the in-form and promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest.
A loan away from the club this season would be a good chance for him to gain even further experience at senior level.
While the Welsh-native has a lot of potential, it is still too soon to expect him to become a permanent fixture in Martin’s side, so gaining that confidence of starting consistently away from the club could be a positive boost for his development.
The Scot played 10 times for Swansea this season, all of those league appearances coming from the bench.
Joseph did go out on loan in the first half of the campaign before being recalled in January.
But his playing time was inconsistent when he returned to his parent club. Perhaps a loan move to gain greater playing time would be beneficial for his development.
