2 Cardiff City players who didn’t leave in January but could do in the summer

Seven players arrived to the Welsh Capital, replacing the seven men who all left in the opening month of 2022.

Steve Morison’s side are 20th in the Championship, with a nine point gap to the relegation zone.

The side have won back to back league games to create some distance to the bottom three, but Cardiff will be hoping the new signings can make a big impact for the second half of the campaign. 

Here, we look at two players who didn’t join the outgoing list this January but could leave in the Summer… 

The 32-year old has been an important player for Cardiff this season, appearing in 25 league games so far in the campaign.

However, if Cardiff do continue to struggle then the club may have a difficult time keeping him this Summer.

Flint was reportedly a transfer target for League One side Sunderland as they chase promotion to the second tier. 

The defender would be a fine addition to the Black Cats side, particularly if they do secure promotion back to the Championship. 

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Sunderland do come in with a more concrete interest in the Summer, when it should be easier to secure the services of the player.

The forward spent the first half of the season on loan with MK Dons but was recalled amid a squad selection crisis in January.

The club did not seek to find a new club for him by the end of the month, so now he has six months to prove himself at this level.

With Kieffer Moore now gone, there is a gap in the team that Watters could take advantage of.

However, the club also signed Uche Ikpeazu and Jordan Hugill, indicating that they do not feel Watters is ready to lead the line for the rest of the season.
