£180 of cushions stolen from city centre bar - and owner wants them back

A popular bar has called out two customers who have been caught stealing cushions from the venue. Atlas Bar is calling on two women to return the furniture that was stolen on Sunday night (January 27).

The venue, which has been in Manchester for almost 30 years, took to social media to ask for the cushions that cost £90-a-piece to be brought back. It said: "These two women decided that they needed to borrow (or maybe steal) two of our cushions last night.

"We would be grateful if they brought them back soon! Hospitality is hard enough, without people taking what isn’t theirs to take! We would hate to have to involve the Police."

Co-owner of the much loved Deansgate drinking spot, Mark Wrigley, says the pair were caught on camera 'stuffing' the cushions underneath their jumpers before leaving the establishment. Mark says that he has not spoken to the police yet about the incident and hopes that they can be returned soon.

Speaking to the MEN, he said: "On this particular area of the bar there's 12 cushions four of each colour and the other night we had one taken. I replaced it because we had some spare ones and told my staff to keep a close eye.

"We count them in and count them out each day and we realised this morning two had gone. My manager checked on camera and found these two ladies literally stuffing them up their jumpers and leaving.

"It was quite comical, we got the full video but because there's other people in the shot we've just taken some stills where there's no one else.

"The cushions are actually quite expensive, they're about £90 each. They're fire retardant and specially treated because as a commercial business they have to be.
