14 drivers on Alpine's list for 2023

Alpine team boss Otmar Szafnauer has said that there are 14 drivers on the list that the team could potentially pick from for the 2023 season.

Esteban Ocon is locked in for next year but the identity of his team-mate for next season is yet to be revealed, with so many names getting linked with the role.

Pierre Gasly and Daniel Ricciardo have been in the frame but there’s nothing imminent, it appears, as yet, with the likes of Jack Doohan and Mick Schumacher also touted as potential options.

That said, then, it appears the field is wide open in terms of who could be next to Ocon in the Alpine garage and Szafnauer has done little to narrow down the options.

“We just want to understand all those that are available,” the Alpine team principal told Sky Sports F1.

“We’ve got a long list. I’ve mentioned 14 before and it’s about right.

“Now we’ve got to whittle that down to three or four and then look at all those and see which one’s the best fit.”
