£13.5m Spurs star might have played his last game for Tottenham

Japhet Tanganga might have played his last game for Tottenham, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The £13.5m-rated defender who was linked with a January exit, hasn’t played for two months, and was recently ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury.

Despite playing regularly under both Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte in the first half of the campaign, Tanganga was wanted by AC Milan in the January window.

Tanganga made 19 appearances in total, including nine starts in the Premier League at both right wing-back and centre-back, although his performances were up and down throughout the season.

Regardless, Conte continuously picked the youngster even though he made some costly mistakes, most notably in the Carabao Cup first leg defeat at Stamford Bridge when he gifted the Blues both goals.

But Tanganga won’t play again this season after Tottenham confirmed that he’s undergone surgery on his right knee and has been ruled out until 2022-2023.

With Tanganga’s future in doubt prior to his injury, when Bridge was asked whether the versatile defender might have played his final game for his boyhood club, he told GIVEMESPORT: “Possibly. The only thing that could save him is his versatility and the fact he’s homegrown.

“Tottenham are edging on having to be a bit careful with homegrown players, although I know Tanganga didn’t exactly cover himself in glory in January.”
