U19 WC Heroes: Maharashtra Police's ATS officer watching son Kaushal Tambe fulfill his cherished dream

Kanga League during Mumbai monsoons, Sunil Tambe also nurtured a dream of making it big in professional cricket. But just like hundreds of dream gets crushed in Mumbai by the second, Tambe knew that it's a arduous road with no guarantees as he decided to concentrate on academics. On Saturday evening, the current Assistant Commissioner of Maharashtra Police's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) must have tried to conceal an entire gamut of emotions that he felt when he watched his teenager son Kaushal get a wicket for India U-19 in the World Cup final against England. "I basically played university level and Kanga-level cricket for Mumbai, but I could not make a career in cricket. I had wished that my son should do something in cricket and he did it," Tambe senior, a veteran cop, who has been a part of ATS for last one and half years told PTI over phone. So has ever Kaushal felt worried about the nature of his job and his security as he deals with criminals? "No, never ever has Kaushal been jittery about my security," Tambe, whose wife is an advocate, said. It was Tambe senior's passion that his son imbibed early and aspired to become a cricketer.

Here's What Dinesh Karthik Said When Asked About Playing For CSK In IPL

Dinesh Karthik is currently putting in the hard yards in Mumbai under the guidance of friend and mentor Abhishek Nayar, focussed on sharpening his finishing skills in the T20 format. Not because the IPL auctions are around the corner. His plan is simple. The 36-year-old, who last played for India in the 2019 ODI World Cup semifinal, is committed to playing the game for "another 3-4 years" and is determined to make a national comeback in the shortest format.

"The More Googlies You Bowl, Your Leg-Spin Will Be More Effective": Yuzvendra Chahal Reveals Rohit Sharma's Advice

Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who snared four wickets in the first ODI against the West Indies here, has credited new white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma for the performance, saying the star batter made him realise that the more googlies he bowled, the more effective his leg-breaks would become. India won the match by six wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. "We had spoken before the game. The thing which you said before the game, the thing I missed in South Africa, I didn't bowl more googlies, so it was there in my mind," Chahal told Rohit in an interview aired on 'bcci.tv'.

Rahul Dravid Shows Bowling Skills In Nets To Celebrate 23rd Anniversary Of Anil Kumble's 10-74. See Pics

Anil Kumble scripted history 23 years ago on February 7, 1999, becoming the first Indian and only second cricketer ever to register all 10 wickets in an innings. Kumble cruised past Pakistan's batting order in the second innings of the second Test match at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (now renamed as Arun Jaitley Stadium) in New Delhi. Although Kumble retired more than a decade ago, fans still remembered his astounding achievement and lauded him on Twitter on Monday. The BCCI also took to the social media, showing India head coach Rahul Dravid practicing some deliveries in the nets and captioned it as, "Celebrating the 23rd anniversary of @anilkumble1074's 10-74".

IPL 2022 Mega Auction: RCB May Bid Handsomely For Jason Holder, Says Report

Former West Indies captain and one of world's premier all-rounders Jason Holder could well turn out to be one of the most expensive buys at this edition of Indian Premier League's mega-auction with Royal Challengers Bangalore expected to bid heavily for him. If sources privy to RCB's auction strategy are to be believed, the franchise that has Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj in its ranks as retained players, are likely to bid up till Rs 12 crore because of his multiple skill-sets, which is a rarity in this format.

India vs West Indies: Rahul, Mayank, Saini sweat it out in the nets ahead of 2nd ODI

KL Rahul, opener Mayank Agarwal, who has completed his quarantine after being added to the squad, sweated it out on Monday ahead of the second ODI against the West Indies. It was an optional training day for the team India members as it was just a day after a full-fledged game. Agarwal was added to the squad after multiple Covid-19 cases were reported in the Indian squad. The 29-year-old pacer Navdeep Saini was also part of the practice session. "Look who are here! The trio joined the squad and sweated it out in the practice session today," the BCCI tweeted along with the pictures of the cricketers.
