As the nation celebrates its Independence Day, Kabaddi, the sport that is so deeply rooted in India's culture, took centre stage when Pro Kabaddi League stars Pardeep Narwal and Maninder Singh visited the Mumbai Public School, a government school supported by Disney Star in collaboration with Yuva Unstoppable, for the special flag hoisting ceremony. After the ceremony, Pardeep and Maninder, who are among the most loved kabaddi players in the country, had a fun kabaddi session with the school's kabaddi team. After what was a very enjoyable kabaddi session, the two legends of the sport, on behalf of the Pro Kabaddi League presented the Mumbai Public School with gifts and a token of appreciation. The morning was rounded off with cultural programme organised by the school.

Hockey India on Wednesday decided to retire the jersey number of goalkeeping stalwart P R Sreejesh at the senior level after he bid adieu to the game following his starring role in the country's second consecutive Olympic bronze at the just-concluded Paris Games. Hockey India secretary general Bhola Nath Singh said going forward no senior team player will be given the number 16 jersey although it will remain in circulation at the junior level. While lauding the veteran's contribution to the game, Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said Sreejesh has earned the right to be considered the "God of Modern Indian Hockey".
