Rajasthan Royals (RR) wicketkeeper-batter and skipper Sanju Samson created an unwanted record during his side's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday. During the match, he became the RR player with the most ducks in IPL history. After being castled by Ravindra Jadeja on his second ball for a duck, Samson registered his eighth duck for the franchise, the most by any player.
In a high-voltage encounter in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Chennai Super Kings restricted Rajasthan Royals to 175/8 in 20 overs despite a half-century from Jos Buttler. The Sanju Samson-led RR looked like cruising at one stage initially as they reached 86/1 in eight overs and looked set for a big total. Enter Ravindra Jadeja. In just his second over, Jadeja scalped Devdutt Padikkal (38) on the third ball of the ninth over. To peg RR back further, Jadeja clean bowled RR captain Sanju Samson for a duck on the fifth ball. He would have got another wicket in that over had Moeen Ali not dropped Ravichandran Ashwin on the final ball of the over.
Following the six-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match, Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper David Warner said that there are a lot of positives in last three matches despite losses and added that all-rounder Axar Patel should be batting in top four. Jason Behrendorff and Piyush Chawla's three-wicket hauls followed by captain Rohit Sharma's half-century and Tilak Verma's 41 powered MI to a comprehensive 6-wicket win over DC in their IPL 2023 match at Arun Jaitley Stadium here on Tuesday
Nicholas Pooran smashed a match-winning 19-ball 62 while Marcus Stoinis made 65 off 30 as Lucknow Super Giants prevailed over Royal Challengers Bangalore by one wicket in a last-ball thriller in the Indian Premier League in Bengaluru on Monday. Chasing 213, LSG rode on Pooran and Stoinis' brilliance to eke out a memorable win. The match had gone down the wire keeping both RCB and LSG fans on the edge of their seats. As LSG turned out to be the eventual winners, the RCB fans were visibly disappointed at the loss. One of the RCB fan's reaction to the side's loss is going viral on social media.
No matter what is said about Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli, the two cricketing icons have nothing but respect for each other. After Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) lost a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 contest against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday, a picture emerged featuring Kohli and Gambhir that has soothed the souls of cricket lovers in the country. Gambhir was understandably pumped after the Lucknow franchise secured a thrilling last-ball win while Kohli was heartbroken. But, between the two, there was only mutual respect and admiration.
The Covid-19 pandemic saw plenty of new rules being brought into cricket. While many rules were later removed as the restrictions eased, the one that remained intact is the ban on the usage of saliva on the ball. In the pre-Covid world, cricketers used to apply saliva on the ball to make it swing, however, the ICC has now banned it. The players nowadays can use their sweat to shine the ball. Since it has been a long time now since the change was brought, the players have adapted to it.
West Indies' Pooran smashed 62 off 19 balls before he departed but Lucknow crept over the line to win by one wicket in a dramatic final over in Bengaluru.
