Sir Bradley Wiggins believes the ‘unpredictability’ of the Giro d’Italia makes it virtually impossible to pick a winner in the early stages of the race. A chaotic finish to Stage 1 saw Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Fenix) sprint to victory in Visegrad. But with a Time Trial on Stage 2 and a flat stage on Stage 3, the complexion of the General Classification is expected to change dramatically by the end of the opening weekend of action.
Daniel Sams, who conceded just three runs in a dramatic last over to help Mumbai Indians beat Gujarat Titans by five runs, said he stuck to his slower deliveries and it was an "awesome" feeling to finally take his team over the line. Gujarat Titans needed nine runs from the last over bowled by Sams, but they could score just three. "Awesome we got over the line, it went back and forward. 9 runs off 6 balls made me feel I have nothing to lose and the odds are in the batter's favour," Sams said after the match.
Ben Stokes smashed 34 runs in an over to reach a 64-ball century for county side Durham on Friday -- his first innings since being appointed as England Test captain. He walked to the crease with Durham on 360-4 on the second morning of their four-day match against Worcestershire and launched a boundary barrage. The left-hander took just 47 balls to reach his half-century but then went into overdrive, with his second 50 taking just 17 deliveries.

In his first innings in county cricket after being appointed as the England Test skipper, Ben Stokes blasted his way to a 64-ball century for his county side Durham against Worcestershire at New Road on Friday. Stokes reached his hundred in scintillating fashion as he hit five back-to-back sixes off Josh Baker in a single over to reach the three-figure mark. Stokes took on the bowlers and suddenly switched gears after reaching his half-century in 47 balls and needed just 17 deliveries more to score the next 50 runs. Stokes came in at number six and batted with complete positive intent right from the word go.
David Moyes apologised for letting his frustrations take over after kicking the ball at a ball boy in West Ham’s Europa League semi-final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. The Hammers were dumped out of the competition with a 3-1 aggregate defeat and had Aaron Cresswell sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity when he brought down Jens Petter Hauge. The Germans then scored the only goal of the game, courtesy of Rafael Borré.
