Mumbai Indians, who, buoyed by a vociferous home crowd, would tend to win all their seven games at the Wankhede Stadium, which had become their impregnable fortress. With the entire league stage of IPL-2022 happening in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune, MI will get to play at their bastion Wankhede after two years. In fact, they are the only team in the competition which will get to play at their home venue and home city. However, at a pre-season media conference on Wednesday which he addressed along with coach Mahela Jayawardene, skipper Rohit Sharma said he didn't think that it would be an "added advantage" for MI, as most of the players in his new-look team have hardly played in Mumbai.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is upon us and teams have already started their preparations for long season ahead, which starts on March 26. While most of the franchises are busy sweating it out in the nets as seen through their social media posts, five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are mixing it up when it comes to gelling together as one unit. This brotherhood and unity was on display when the entire squad, including the team management and support staff members, were seen having a gala time at the "opening of the new MI Arena".

Immediately after leading the side to a 2-0 series win over Sri Lanka at home in Tests, captain Rohit Sharma joined the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp ahead of the start of the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Mumbai Indians posted a video of Rohit's arrival where he was seen being greeted by head coach Mahela Jayawardene and other members of the support staff. However, this rendezvous began on a hilarious note as Jayawardene was quick to spot the "grey hair" on Rohit as he made a comment relating to the captaincy responsibilities of the Indian cricket team as well. "He has got more grey hair after beginning captaincy," joked Mahela as the Sri Lankan shook hands and shared a hug as the duo embark on another journey to reclaiming the IPL crown from defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
IPL champions Mumbai Indians on Tuesday set the ground running for their 2022 campaign. The 12-day strength and conditioning pre-season camp, ahead of Mumbai Indians' first match, is being held at their in-house training facility at Reliance Jio Stadium in neighbouring Navi Mumbai. "Mumbai Indians will also play a couple of inter-squad practice matches towards the second week of the camp," a media statement issued by Mumbai Indians stated.
IPL 2022 as he recovers from a surgery on his right elbow, the Mumbai Indians splurged Rs 8 crores on England's express paceman Jofra Archer. Recruiting the English tearaway offers MI the exciting prospect of unleashing Archer and Jasprit Bumrah on the batsmen, but only in IPL 2023. IPL AUCTION: AS IT HAPPENEDAt a virtual presser just after the IPL auction, MI's director of cricket operations, former India seamer Zaheer Khan revealed that it was team owner Akash Ambani's "dream" to bring together Bumrah and Archer for his team. "All of us are looking forward to seeing the partnership of two world-class bowlers in Boom and Jofra. This was Akash's dream," Zaheer said. Struck by an elbow injury, Archer hasn't played international cricket since a T20I against India on March 20, 2021 in Ahmedabad.

The England pacer will not be available for IPL 2022 season, and he would only start playing for the franchise from the next season.
