Another new white-ball cricket format has been unveiled, with The 6ixty set to launch in the Caribbean in August.
The Caribbean Premier League's 10th season will start with a brand new T10-style league which will see 6 men's teams and 3 women's teams participate in a 60-balls-a-side tournament with "radical new rules". CPL made the announcement on social media through posts and a teaser video that featured West Indies legend Chris Gayle. The league has been named 6IXTY.
Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya, who used to own the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a picture with West Indies cricket star Chris Gayle. Gayle, of course, used to ply his trade for RCB from 2011 to 2017. "Great to catch up with my good friend Christopher Henry Gayle @henrygayle, the Universe Boss," Mallya wrote in his tweet, which has gone viral. "Super friendship since I recruited him for RCB. Best acquisition of a player ever," he added.
England's first ODI in a three-match series against Netherlands saw a lot of records getting broken on Friday in Amstelveen. While the Three Lions bettered their own record to post the highest total by a team in the ODI format, the likes of Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone too achieved different milestones during the match. England's Dawid Malan also found himself among the ones to get their names enter the record books. He became only the second England male batter to score a hundred in all three formats.

Imam-ul-Haq continued his rich vein of form as he scored his seventh successive scores of fifty or more during the third Pakistan-West Indies ODI in Multan on Sunday. In reaching the 50-run mark, Imam became only the second cricketer to score more than six straight half-centuries in ODIs. However, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam, who had scored his sixth successive half-century, fell for just 1 and missed out on a record. Pakistan have already sealed the three-ODI series after winning the first two ODIs. Imam, who was out for 62 in the third ODI, had scores of 56, 103, 106, 89, 65 and 72 in the earlier matches. Imam has now surpassed Mark Waugh, Gordon Greenidge, Andrew Jones, Mohammad Yusuf, Chris Gayle, Shai Hope, Paul Stirling, Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson in the elite list of batters with 6 straight 50-plus scores in ODIs. Pakistan batting legend Javed Miandad holds the record for the most consecutive 50-plus scores in ODIs. He had 9 straight score of 50-plus in the year 1987.
In the ongoing ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies, it is the former who have the upper hand, after having gained a 2-0 unassailable lead. Pakistan defeated West Indies by 120 runs in the second ODI after winning the first match by 5 wickets. Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman and West Indies batter Shai Hope were seen bonding off the game as they indulged in a game of carrom. The official handle of Pakistan Cricket Board posted a video of Hope and Zaman playing carrom together.
