Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has taken to Instagram to laud the club’s fans for the support that they illustrated during the club’s latest display in League One.
Barry Bannan scored a wonder goal against MK Dons on Saturday in their 3-2 win, boosting their hopes of finishing in the playoffs.
Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan was in incredible form on Saturday as he scored a spectacular long-range goal against MK Dons in a League One match at the Stadium MK in Milton Keynes. The visitors were already leading 2-0 when Bannan got the ball near the halfway line in the 30th-minute. The midfielder was urged by fans to shoot and he took only one touch and scored a long-range screamer from 40 yards away from the opposition goal. His effort lobbed over the MK Dons goalkeeper Jamie Cumming and found itself in the back of the net. Sheffield won the game 3-2, with Saido Berahino (10') and Lee Gregory (20') scoring the other goals. Meanwhile, Troy Parrott (40') and Scott Twine (90+6') scored a goal each for MK Dons.
Barry Bannan has labelled his wonder goal against MK Dons as the best in his career. The Sheffield Wednesday midfielder set up two and scored a sumptuous third in the Owls' 3-2 win on Saturday.
Liam Manning was left ruing Milton Keynes Dons slow start against Sheffield Wednesday. The Dons trailed 3-0 in the first half hour after goals from Saido Berahino, Lee Gregory and an outrageous 45-yard lob from Barry Bannan.
It was a good performance. We got off to a really good start. We wanted to start quickly and not let them settle into their rhythm so to be 3-0 up after 30 minutes was excellent.
Rarely troubled in the first half. Rushed off his line to try and prevent Parrott from reducing the arrears. Thwarted Twiner after the break. Never looked flustered and expertly commanded his area. His distribution could have been better at times.
