NEW DELHI : Seamer Deepak Chahar and spinner Kuldeep Yadav recovered from injuries to feature in India's one-day squad for the three-match one-day international (ODI) series scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe this month.
India batter KL Rahul on Saturday issued a lengthy statement, saying testing positive for COVID-19 has pushed his return to the international arena "back by a couple of weeks", but he aims to recover as quickly as possible and be available for selection. It is important to note that Rahul had been named in the squad for the T20Is against West Indies, but he ended up testing positive and hence was ruled out.
The BCCI on Saturday announced Team India's squad for the upcoming ODI series against Zimbabwe, starting from August 18 in Harare. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the 15-man squad, with regular captain Rohit Sharma being rested. Also, Deepak Chahar also make his return to the team after a lengthy injury.
BCCI said. "KL Rahul was earlier named in the squad and his participation in the T20I series was subject to fitness. The batter tested positive for COVID-19 last week and has been advised rest by the BCCI medical team," BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement.
The Indian selectors on Friday named wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson as a replacement fr KL Rahul for the five-match T20I series between India and West Indies, starting Friday. Rahul has not travelled with the team and will miss the entire series as he has been advised rest by the BCCI medical team after recovering from a bout of COVID-19.

Team India on Sunday put up a spirited show to edge past West Indies by two wickets in a last-over thriller. Chasing a 312-run target against West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series at Queen's Park Oval, Trinidad, India got home with just two balls to spare. Axar Patel played an unbeaten 64-run knock off 35 balls to take the side home despite the required run rate rising to 10 runs per over towards the end of the game.
