India vs Zimbabwe: Shahbaz Ahmed Reacts After Receiving Maiden India Call-Up For Zimbabwe ODIs

Shahbaz Ahmed has expressed his delight on getting a maiden national call-up for India's ODI series against Zimbabwe. After his impressive performances for West Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2022 and for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL this year, the selectors decided to give the player a chance to join the Indian team during its ongoing tour of Zimbabwe. The series has three ODI matches, starting August 18. It is worth noting that Shahbaz was not included into the squad earlier but Washington Sundar got ruled out of the series due to a shoulder ijury injury and the Bengal all-rounder was roped in into the squad as a replacement player.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Tuesday announced that Shahbaz Ahmed has replaced "injured" Washington Sundar for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, beginning August 18 in Harare. "Washington Sundar injured his shoulder while playing a County game in England. He has been ruled out of the Zimbabwe tour," stated an official media release issued by the board on Tuesday.

The KL Rahul-led Indian team has left for Zimbabwe for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the side, starting August 18. BCCI shared the pictures of Indian players posing inside the plane. While the first picture had Shikhar Dhawan, Deepak Chahar and Prasidh Krishna standing together, the rest of the shared pictures included the likes of acting head coach VVS Laxman and players Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Rahul Tripathi and Ruturaj Gaikwad. "Zimbabwe bound!" wrote BCCI while sharing the pictures on social media.
