Australia legend Steve Waugh believes under-fire Rohit Sharma can't afford to be "complacent or relax" if he wants to continue serving Indian cricket, including making a call on his captaincy ahead of the upcoming Test series against England. With questions swirling around Rohit's future, Waugh said the decision to lead India must come from the man himself. India will begin their 2025–27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle with the England series starting in June.
Fast-bowling all-rounder Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana was selected as the captain of the 2025 Women's ODI WC qualifiers' team of the tournament, said the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday. Muneeba Ali, Nashra Sandhu and Sadia Iqbal are the other players from the Pakistan team included in the qualifiers' team of the tournament, where the hosts and Bangladesh sealed their spots for the ODI World Cup to be held later this year in India. They are joined by West Indies' skipper Hayley Matthews, all-rounders Chinelle Henry and Aaliyah Alleyne, as well as Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana, and Sharmin Akhter. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday announced that their women's team will not travel to India for the ICC ODI World Cup later this year and play their matches at a neutral venue, following the hybrid model accepted earlier this year. When Pakistan hosted ICC Champions Trophy recently, BCCI had refused to send Indian team across the border due to diplomatic tension between the two nations and their matches were held in Dubai. A hybrid model was agreed upon that allowed both India and Pakistan to play their matches at neutral venues if one of the two countries was to host an ICC event.

They became the the first team to qualify from the six-nation qualifier that also featured Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland and Thailand. Notably, the top-two finishing teams from the event are set to earn tickets for the Cricket World Cup that takes place in India in September-November.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) warned all the IPL stakeholders about a businessman from Hyderabad who has been trying to coerce individuals into committing potentially illegal acts. The BCCI has cautioned cricketers, coaches, support staff and commentators about potential approaches from the business man. According to a report by Cricbuzz, the The Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) believes that the businessman has links to bookies. The individual has been reportedly trying to befriend people in the recent past and trying to establish connections with people involved in the competition. The person allegedly befriends people by offering them expensive gifts.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) received a major boost as the fast bowler Mayank Yadav has joined the squad. The 22-year-old pacer is likely to be available for LSG's next game against the Rajasthan Royals on Saturday. LSG announced Mayank's return with a special video on their social media, accompanied by the caption, "Mayank Yadav is back". Mayank has been sidelined with a back injury and was close to returning earlier this season before a freak toe injury — sustained after stubbing it against his bed — caused an infection that further delayed his comeback.
