Bangladesh To Tour Pakistan For T20Is In May; Faisalabad To Host After 17 years

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday confirmed that Bangladesh will travel to the country next month for a five-match T20I series where Faisalabad will host international matches after a long gap of 17 years. Bangladesh had toured Pakistan last year for a two-Test series which was a part of the ICC World Test Championship and returned home victorious, winning 2-0. The scheduled white-ball series, which is part of the Future Tour Programme (FTP) originally consisted of three ODIs and three T20Is. The PCB said that with the ICC men's T20 World Cup scheduled for next year, both the Boards mutually agreed to replace the ODIs with two additional T20Is.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood on Wednesday expressed his interest in becoming the next head coach of the national team, saying he will soon apply for the high-pressure post. The PCB was forced to begin a fresh search to find a new head coach and Director of the National Cricket Academy after foreign coaches Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie resigned last year, less then eight months into their two-year contracts.

India To Play Thailand In FIFA International Friendly On June 4

Indian men's football team will play an international friendly against higher-ranked Thailand away from home on June 4, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced on Wednesday. The 'Blue Tigers' are currently competing in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Final Round. The international friendly, to be held at Thammasat Stadium, will be a part of the team's preparation for its qualification match against Hong Kong-China on June 10. India are ranked 127th in the FIFA Rankings, while Thailand are 99th.

Cricket, MMA Confirmed For Asian Games 2026 In Japan

Cricket has been confirmed for the 2026 edition of the Asian Games to be held in Japan next year in September-October, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) announced on Tuesday. A press note on OCA's official website said that cricket and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) are set to be included in the competition. "The latest development in the compilation of the sports programme came at the 41st meeting of the AINAGOC Board of Directors at Nagoya City Hall on Monday, April 28, when cricket and Mixed Martial Arts were both formally approved," the press note said.

Former Indian cricket team spinner R Ashwin finally revealed what led to his international retirement midway through the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Ashwin decided to announce his retirement after the third Test match at The Gabba - a decision that took the cricketing world by surprise. During an interaction on the Mike Testing 1, 2, 3' podcast, Ashwin said that he wanted to retire after the Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai where he scored a century and claimed a six-wicket haul. However, he decided to prolong his career due to his good form and sensational run of results.

Shadman Islam's Ton Gives Bangladesh Lead In 2nd Test Against Zimbabwe

Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam smashed a century in the second Test against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, giving the hosts a lead of 64 runs at the end of the second day with three wickets in hand. Bangladesh were 291-7 at the close, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz (16) and Taijul Islam (5) remaining not out, in response to Zimbabwe's first innings total of 227. Shadman recorded a career-best knock of 120 and partnered with Anamul Haque in a first-wicket stand of 118 runs, only the 10th time that Bangladesh's openers had passed the 100-run mark in Tests. Despite Shadman's century, the other batsmen failed to exploit the dry and slow surface at Chattogram after a good start.

Ex-India Star In Contention To Become Spin Bowling Coach At BCCI's COE. Not Anil Kumble Or Harbhajan Singh

Former India left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi has thrown his hat in the ring for the post of spin bowling coach at BCCI's Centre of Excellence (COE) that was vacated by Sairaj Bahutule earlier this year. The COE was earlier known as the National Cricket Academy when it was based out of the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It remains in the city but is now operational from a new location after BCCI purchased land to build a more expansive facility. Bahutule resigned to become an assistant coach in IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals.
