Barcelona had an underwhelming 2022/23 season. The Catalan giants failed miserably in the Champions League as they were knocked out in the group stage.
They failed to win the Europa League, were dumped out in the early stages of the Copa del Rey and were beaten by Real Madrid in the Supercopa de España.
At one stage it looked as if they would fail to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League, but Xavi’s arrival as manager bought about a turn in fortunes.
The Barcelona legend replaced Ronald Koeman as manager in November and helped guide the club to a second place finish. Xavi will now be looking to bolster his squad in the summer transfer window in order to close the gap to fierce rivals, Real Madrid.
