A woman was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a tram on Thursday afternoon (October 6). Emergency services raced to the scene shortly after 12.30pm, with Airport and East Didsbury line Metrolink services cancelled.

The woman, aged in her early 20s, had been hit by the tram at a crossing beside the stop on St Werburgh's Road, near Chorlton.

Paramedics and a rapid response vehicle attended and she was quickly taken to hospital. Greater Manchester Police confirmed to the M.E.N they received a report of a woman having suffered a head injury after being hit by a tram.

She was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary with life-threatening injuries.
