Woman cut from car following crash on major road

A woman was cut from a car following a crash on a major road on the outskirts of Manchester city centre. Emergency services were called to the smash, involving two cars pn Cheetham Hill Road at about 6.45am this morning (Saturday).

Firefighters rescued a woman from one of the vehicles before she was then treated by paramedics. The extent of her injuries are not yet known.

A stretch of Cheetham Hill Road between New Bridge Street and Carnarvon Street was closed for several hours following the incident.

"Fire engines from Manchester Central and Broughton stations, alongside the technical response unit from Ashton-under-Lyne, quickly attended the scene. "The collision involved two cars.
