Delhi Capitals will need their under-performing Indian batters to deliver when they take on the mighty and versatile Gujarat Titans in the IPL in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

The abject failure of Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan has contributed significantly to Delhi Capitals' travails this season as they find themselves in a do-or-die situation with six losses from eight games.

They will probably need to win all of their remaining six games to make the IPL play-offs but considering the resources at their disposal, it looks highly unlikely.

Shaw's dismal run has given an opportunity to Phil Salt to open alongside David Warner. He was at his destructive best in the last game and team would need him to be consistent alongside Warner and number three Mitchell Marsh, who finally played to his potential against Sunrisers Hyderabad with an all-round performance.

Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar brought their 'A' game to the fore as Chennai Super Kings cantered to a 77-run crushing victory over Delhi Capitals to seal an IPL play-off berth in Delhi on Saturday. Playing a must-win game, Conway (87 off 52) and Gaikwad (79 off 50) smashed brilliant half-centuries to help Chennai Super Kings post a challenging 223/3 after captain MS Dhoni opted to bat. Skipper David Warner, DC's best batter this season, waged a lone battle, scoring 86 off 58 deliveries. But in the end the home team could manage only 146/9 in 20 overs after Chahar dealt a killer blow removing a couple of top-order batters within Powerplay overs.
DC vs CSK, IPL 2023, Live Updates:Delhi Capitals will be taking on Chennai Super Kings in their last league match of IPL 2023 on Saturday, at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi. At the moment, CSK are on second on the points table with 15 points from 13 games. But a loss against DC along with a string of unfavourable results could see the four-time champions miss out on the last leg of IPL action.  A win would, however, confirm a play-off spot but whether they finish in second place or third would depend on the Lucknow Super Giants' result against Kolkata Knight Riders later in the day.
Punjab Kings will be eager to register a big win to keep their IPL play-off hopes alive against wooden spooners Delhi Capitals, who will play for pride when the two teams face off in Dharamsala on Wednesday. It has been a roller-coaster ride for PBKS, with six losses and as many wins. They are placed at eighth spot with 12 points and are still in contention to make the qualifiers. However, they need to improve their net run rate (NRR), which stands at -0.268. A 31-run win against the Capitals last week boosted their NRR and morale and the Shikhar Dhawan-led side will hope for an encore and then hope that other results go their way.
Shubman Gill hit his maiden IPL century as Gujarat Titans became the first team to seal a place in the play-offs of the ongoing edition with a convincing 34-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad on Monday. Gill slammed 101 off just 58 balls with the help of 13 fours and one six, and added 147 runs for the second wicket with Sai Sudharsan (47 off 36 balls), to power GT to 188 for nine despite a late comeback by Sunrisers Hyderabad's Bhuvneshwar Kumar (5/30). With the bat, SRH were never in the hunt as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals to be restricted to 154 for nine.
Delhi Capitals assistant coach Shane Watson feels that not executing skills with the bat for a consistent period of time has been team's bane this season, resulting in seven defeats out of 11 Indian Premier League games so far. DC, who are placed last in the points table with four wins so far, are all but out of play-off contention with only three games left. On Wednesday, DC lost to Chennai Super Kings by 27 runs after dominating the home team for better part of their bowling effort. CSK posted a total of 167/8 in their 20 overs, before restricting DC to 140/8.
With four wins in their last five outings, Delhi Capitals now look to spoil the party for the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings when both teams face off in their IPL 2023 match on Wednesday. Last time out, DC outclassed Royal Challengers Bangalore to keep their playoff chances alive. The David Warner-led side will need to perform very well if they aim to surprise CSK in their den, which is easier said than done. It is highly unlikely that the management will make any changes to the side.
