Glasgow Rangers are believed to be readying a bid for Liverpool defender, Ben Davies, amid the impending departure of Calvin Bassey.

According to The Scottish Sun, the Ibrox outfit are reportedly set to turn to the 26-year-old as a replacement for the outgoing Nigerian international, with the youngster set to join Ajax in what would be a club-record sale for the Gers.

Davies – who joined the Merseysiders on a £1.6m deal from Preston North End back in January 2021 – is yet to make a first-team appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side, having spent the most recent campaign on loan at Sheffield United.

Another report from the same source suggests that Vincent Kompany’s Burnley are also keen on the Englishman, while the player has also reportedly been a target for Old Firm foes Celtic over the last few years.
