Will Nightingale nearing Ross County loan transfer as Staggies see off English interest for experienced defender

dailyrecord.co.uk

Ross County are set to pull off a major transfer coup with the loan signing of experienced defender Will Nightingale. The AFC Wimbledon star is closing in on a move to the Staggies on loan, initially until January, with Malky Mackay majorly bolstering his backline ahead of a crucial campaign in the top flight.

Nightingale has been a one club man at Plough Lane since being at the club at youth level and has made over 169 appearances for the League One side.

The 27-year-old penned a three-and-a-half year deal in March 2022 to extend his stay but Record Sport understands the defender is to join the Highland side after the Staggies saw off big competition down south for his signature.

It comes after a long pursuit of the London-born star who managed 22 appearances for Johnnie Jackson's men last season. County have already made waves in the window including brining former Kilmarnock and St Mirren forward Eamonn Brophy to the north.
