Why Ralph Hasenhuttl was angry against Monaco as Southampton boss offers Adam Armstrong hint

It was a happy homecoming for Southampton as they won 3-1 against AS Monaco on their return to St Mary's last night (Wednesday).

Goals from Adam Armstrong, Stuart Armstrong and James Ward-Prowse helped Saints come from behind to beat their opponents from France, who finished third in Ligue 1 last term.

Monaco had taken the lead in the first half through Aleksandr Golovin, but Southampton put in a fine second half performance to end their wait for a win in pre-season in their first of two fixtures at St Mary's this week.

It ended up being a deserved victory for Ralph Hasenhuttl's side, who put in what the Austrian described as their "best performance in pre-season", having previously lost by the same scoreline against RB Leipzig before goalless draws with SK Austria Klagenfurt and Watford last week.
