WHSmith has announced that it will be leaving Manchester’s high street with the closure of its Market Street store. The shop, which has a second entrance within the Manchester Arndale, will close down at the beginning of December.

The high street giant, which opened its first store in 1792, sells books, stationary and convenience products at more than 1,100 stores across the country but it has noticeably shifted towards premises within airports, train stations and hospitals in recent years.
