Manchester United remain in the market for a left-back and a midfielder ahead of tonight's transfer deadline. Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella was United's preferred target but they have turned their attention to Sergio Reguilon over issues with a possible deal for Cucurella.

Cucurella started in Chelsea's 2-1 League Cup second round win over AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday night and, as United are insistent on having the option to terminate a loan in January, he would not be able to be transferred to a third club in a season.

The Manchester Evening News revealed Reguilon, 26, was on United's left-back shortlist that they compiled last week, although there was concern over his salary demands.
