Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, two Mumbai Indians players who grabbed the maximum limelight were captain Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan.
Hardik Pandya's appointment in place of Rohit Sharma made a lot of noise. Ishan Kishan's case was different. His sudden break from India's Tour of South Africa was much discussed as was his missing Ranji Trophy matches for Jharkhand.
This despite Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid telling that Ishan Kishan needs to play some form of domestic cricket.
What followed was BCCI secretary Jay Shah telling that playing domestic cricket is of utmost cricket. Ishan Kishan was also dropped from BCCI's latest list of centrally contracted players.
