In an entertaining and keenly contested match, Dumfries and Galloway Schools F A under 18 boys’ team defeated Lanarkshire Schools F A 2-1 at Palmerston Park recently.

The boys, who were drawn from secondary schools across the region, played some great football and showed real character in coming back from a 1-0 deficit.

Team coach Callum Hyslop, said: “The boys controlled the majority of the game and moved the ball with quality and speed throughout.” The team’s achievement was particularly notable given the number of late call-offs.

Their next match in the Scottish Schools F A under 18 National Trophy will be an away fixture against Ayrshire Schools F A in November.
