Wayne Rooney has admitted he rejected the opportunity to follow in the foot steps of Cristiano Ronaldo to Saudi Arabia in the aftermath of some 'strange' comments made by his former teammate.
Rooney, 37, was announced as the Birmingham City boss last week after the club parted ways with John Eustace, despite the Blues currently sitting in sixth place within the Championship table.
His first game as boss at St Andrew's will arrive against his former Manchester United teammate Michael Carrick this weekend, as a clash against Middlesbrough approaches. Speaking at his official press conference to unveil him as the new boss last week, Rooney confirmed that he had an offer to manage in Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo now plays with Al-Nassr, but rejected it in favour of the West Midlands.
