Legendary Indian cricket team batter Sunil Gavaskar had a somewhat stern message for cricket fans following the announcement of the Asia Cup 2023 squad.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar named the 17-member squad on Monday and it was followed by various discussions over the inclusions and also some exclusions - namely Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin.

During his analysis, Gavaskar had several points to make but he made it clear that the team is already selected and the fans should look to support them instead of creating 'controversy' over the choices. “Yes, there are a few players who will believe that they are lucky.

But the team is selected. So don't talk about Ashwin. Stop creating controversy. This is our team now. If you don't like it, don't watch the matches but stop saying that he should have been picked or another should be there, this is a wrong mindset,” Gavaskar said on Aaj Tak.

It was a proud moment for the entire country as Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the moon on Wednesday. India has now become the first nation to land near the South Pole on moon, which has been a place of intrigue since traces of water was found on moon. Celebrating India's feat, India Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians gave it a cricketing touch and compared it with the upcoming ODI World Cup.
The ICC World Cup 2023 is just round the corner and veteran Indian cricket team star Dinesh Karthik believes that the Rohit Sharma-led side has a couple of key areas where they may still need to improve. In a recent interaction, Karthik was asked about India's chances in the World Cup and he made it clear that they first need to use the upcoming Asia Cup as an opportunity to make the final tweaks to the team composition. When asked about the exact places which need fine tuning, he spoke about the fast-bowling options and the dilemma surrounding the middle-order batting.
Virat Kohli, the ex-Indian cricket team captain, was a passionate one when he was at the helm of the side. He put extra focus on fitness and fast bowlers' line-up. Kohli, the batter, is among the modern day greats. With 76 tons, Kohli is only second to Sachin Tendulkar in terms of international centuries. But what about Kohli, the bowler? For the record he has four wickets each in ODI and T20Is. In first-class cricket too he has three wickets.
As the Indian cricket team heads into a busy period of ODI cricket, with the Asia Cup and World Cup on the horizon, an unsettled middle order remains the team's biggest issue. In the middle-order, there remains a big dilemma over who the ideal No. 4 batter could be. While Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have been playing at the position for a while, their long-term injuries prompted the team management to test the multiple options at the spot. For the Asia Cup, even the uncapped Tilak Varma was roped in, following the promise he showed in the T20I series against West Indies.
