The man who steps up whenever India are in need of a wicket, Jasprit Bumrah delivered his team the first wicket on Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur on Monday.

The match resumed after the second and third day's play was completely washed out due to rain and wet outfield, and India captain Rohit Sharma put the ball in the hands of Bumrah to give team the 4th Bangladesh wicket.

Burmah didn't have to wait for long to draw the first blood, removing Mushfiqur Rahim on the third over of the day. It was one of those typic deliveries from Bumrah which the batter failed to read and decided to leave.

Thinking it was an outswinger, Rahim decided to let the ball go but soon heard the sound of the ball crashing onto the stumps.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made its preference clear as the India squad for the Test series against New Zealand was announced. While Rohit Sharma remains the captain of the team, the BCCI selection committee officially put the vice-captain tag on pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has been widely recognised as India's most important player at present. Top-order batter Rachin Ravindra said on Monday that nullifying the twin threat posed by senior spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will be crucial to New Zealand's success in the three-match series against India. Ashwin and Jadeja together have grabbed over 800 Test wickets, and are among the most experienced bowling pairs in world cricket at present. "They've got consistent bowlers who bowl in an area for a long period of time. I mean, you see the two spinners who play consistently, Ashwin and Jadeja, they're two very accomplished bowlers. You know, they can bat too, which makes it a little bit hard,” Ravindra told reporters on Monday.

Jasprit Bumrah has received a well-earned rest after starring for India in a 2-0 home Test series win over Bangladesh.
