Truly the 'Kohinoor' of Indian cricket, Jasprit Bumrah is arguably the most important player in Indian cricket across the three formats at present.

His pace and precision was crucial to help India win the T20 World Cup 2024, and the marquee pacer remains key to the national team's plans for winning more ICC trophies in the years to come.

Though not the most talkative of cricketers, Bumrah left everyone stunned when he was asked if he has come across 'tough' batters in his career that he was troubled against.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Bumrah was asked "if there is any batsman who he thinks has been tough to bowl to." His response truly showed the exemplary mind he has. "Look I want to give a good answer but the real factor is that I don't want anyone to take over me in my head because obviously I respect everyone, but in my head I tell myself that if I do my job well, there's nobody in the world who can stop me. "So I look at myself rather than the opponent so if I think that I have control over everything and if I give myself the best opportunity, everything else will take care of itself rather than giving the power to the batsman that he'll get the better of me and he's better than me, so that I don't want to," he said in response.

Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir spoke to reporters, donning his candid avatar like always. When the topic of Japsprit Bumrah came up, Gambhir expressed his delight at the appreciation a fast bowler is getting in India, as the country has traditionally worshiped batters more than bowlers. Bumrah has undoubtedly risen the ranks when it comes to Indian cricket's superstars when Ravichandran Ashwin recently named him as the team's 'Most Valuable Player' at present. Gambhir didn't hold back as the called the country a 'batting obsessed nation'. Gambhir, during the presser, also sent a message to Bangladesh, for their heroic 2-0 victory against Pakistan in the recently concluded Test series.
Littered largely with lopsided contests, India's hopes of walking down that familiar path will hinge on sorting an uncharacteristic batting infirmity against spin when they face Bangladesh in a two-Test series starting in Chennai from Thursday. Bangladesh, who are fresh from a recent 2-0 drubbing of Pakistan, are no pushovers this time and this will add to India's list of concerns as they look to take that bold first step into a long season that features 10 Tests, including a possible berth in the World Test Championship Final.
India pace bowling stalwart Mohammed Shami has sent a verbal warning to Australia ahead of the looming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between Australia and India, starting in December. India have won the last four Test series between the two nations, all by a 2-1 margin. Two of these have been in Australia, where India recorded historic series wins. Shami - who is expected to play a key role Down Under in the upcoming series - has let his thoughts know on who are the favourites.
Pakistan-born fast bowler Zahoor Khan, who plays for the UAE cricket team, was part of the Mumbai Indians set-up as a net bowler back in 2014. Although he did not play in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the fast bowler had the opportunity to play against some of the biggest names of world cricket as part of the franchise. In a recent interaction, Zahoor opened up about his time with MI and claimed that Jasprit Bumrah was so impressed by his slower deliveries that he asked about how he grips the ball.
As India prepares to face Bangladesh in the first Test of their upcoming series, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has recommended a bold strategy for the Indian team. Raina suggested that India should deploy a spin-dominant attack with three spinners and two fast bowlers for the match, which begins on Thursday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Raina's strategy is driven by the nature of the Chennai pitch, which he expects to favor spinners due to its black soil composition. He proposed selecting Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav as the spin trio, alongside fast bowlers Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah.
Indian cricket team batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has established himself as a solid talent in the past couple of years and he is expected to take the field during the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai starting Thursday. However, according to a report on Sportstar, Jaiswal had a tough time facing the fast bowlers during the net session at the M Chidambaram Stadium on Monday. The report claimed that Jaiswal cut a 'sorry figure' against both Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah as the youngster kept missing deliveries outside the off-stump. However, the left-hander did look quite comfortable against the spinners and the report added that he used the sweep quite well to counter the threat of the spinners.
