Updated WTC Points Table After Bangladesh Stun Pakistan 2-0 In Test Series

Bangladesh unlocked a historic feat on Tuesday as they defeated Pakistan by six wickets in the second Test of the two-match series.

With this win, Bangladesh swept away the the series with 2-0 scoreline, which also turned out be their first-ever clean sweep against an Asian side in their own home.

Pakistan, who were keen to make a strong comeback after facing defeat in the first Test by 10 wickets, failed to live up to the expectations in the second match of the series.

This loss had some adverse effects to Pakistan's World Test Championship standings as they remain static on the eighth position (second last) with 16 points in seven games.

In Jason Gillespie's first assignment as Test head coach of Pakistan, the Shan Masood-led team hit rock bottom after enduring a whitewash against Bangladesh on their home soil. During the two-match Test series, PCB had to shift the second Test to Rawalpindi, which was originally scheduled to be held in Karachi. Due to the ongoing construction work in Karachi National Stadium for next year's Champions Trophy, it was not viable to host the second Test in Karachi.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will conduct stringent fitness tests before awarding central contracts for the next 12 months, bringing currently contracted players and other international and domestic performers into the ambit. The fitness test will be carried out between September 6 and 8 at Lahore and the process will be supervised by white ball head coach Gary Kirsten and the team's physiotherapist and trainer. The players will then leave for Faisalabad for the Champions Cup.

Pakistan were thrashed by 10 wickets in the first Test while the hosts lost the second by six wickets with Rawalpindi hosting both the matches. “Pakistan dropped two places in the ICC Men's Test Team Rankings to go to eighth position after suffering a shock series loss at home to Bangladesh,” the ICC said on its website.
