Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the Masters due to injury before Sunday’s resumption, after completing seven holes in the third round on Saturday. “I am disappointed to have to WD [withdraw] this morning due to reaggravating my plantar fasciitis,” Woods tweeted.

Thank you to the fans and to @TheMasters who have shown me so much love and support. Good luck to the players today!” Woods, the last of 54 players to make the cut, was nine-over-par when play was called off on Saturday due to bad weather.

The five-times champion at Augusta appeared to be limping on the 17th fairway before play was brought to an early conclusion. “Due to injury, @TigerWoods has officially withdrawn from the Masters Tournament after completing seven holes of his third round,” an earlier statement from organisers said.

Woods made the cut at three-under-par despite two late bogeys, but dropped another six shots in the first seven holes of the third round in cold and wet conditions.
