Three 'repeat offenders' arrested after spate of shoplifting at Sainsbury's supermarket

Three people have been arrested following a spate of shoplifting at a supermarket in south Manchester. Police said shoplifting offences at the Sainsbury's supermarket on Wilmslow Road in Fallowfield have increased recently.

Neighbourhood officers launched an operation to tackle the issue. Eight people in total have been detained and searched, police said.

Two people were referred on to support agencies. A post on the GMP Fallowfield Facebook page said: "Neighbourhood Officers have been involved in a shoplifting operation following an increase in reports from Sainsburys Fallowfield.
