Manchester United will be targeting a winning start to 2024 when they face Wigan Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup at the DW Stadium on Monday night.

United, who last faced the Latics in 2017, also in the FA Cup, will be looking to get back on track after last Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The loss at the City Ground marked a fifth defeat in their last eight matches in all competitions. The Reds were second best at the City Ground, meaning they will be determined to produce a much-improved showing in their first outing of the new year.

They will be desperate to avoid the embarrassment of a cup upset, with the Latics currently 18th in the League One table.
