Threave Rovers caretaker manager Paul McGinley has taken “full responsibility” for their Utility Hut South of Scotland Challenge Cup exit.
The Castle Douglas side were knocked out by Stranraer thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Ryan Edgar on the artificial surface at Stranraer Academy.
McGinley said: “We’ve set up to play a certain way, I take full responsibility for what happens when things go wrong. “We train on grass, we play on grass, we’re very direct and aggressive with how we use the ball. “Astroturf doesn’t suit us and I should have changed it, I should have looked into it more, but if I’m being totally honest I’d rather fully focus on our one aim.
If everyone reflected on it properly, they’d know the main objective is to gain promotion – whether or not we can achieve it we don’t know. “If they looked themselves in the mirror and were honest on Saturday night, they’d have thought they probably could have done more to win it.
