Threave Rovers aiming to be TV stars in Scottish Cup clash with Stranraer

Threave Rovers are aiming to be TV stars tomorrow night. The Castle Douglas side face Stranraer in a Scottish Cup clash being shown live on BBC Scotland.

And gaffer Danny Dunglinson is hoping his side can emulate the heroics of Darvel, who eliminated Premiership giants Aberdeen back in 2023.

He said: “It’s a free hit for us, we’re not expecting them to win the game but Darvel against Aberdeen is the benchmark for every non-league team in Scotland. “In a one-off game anything can happen, there’s no reason we can’t cause a shock.

We’ll give it our best shot. “One or two played first team football at Queens and have been on BBC Alba but for the majority of the boys it’s the first time on TV. “I was speaking to Ritchie Maxwell and Lewis Sloan, we’ve played together for 15 or 20 years and never got this opportunity. “For some of the boys who are 17 or 18, to have it this young is a massive opportunity for them.
