Thomas Tuchel has been sacked as Chelsea manager. Following the Blues’ 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Tuesday, the German was dismissed on Wednesday morning.

The decision made by new owner Todd Boehly comes after the club spent £270 million in the summer but have had an unconvincing start to the 2022/23 campaign.

While results may not have been great recently, Tuchel will always have a place in Chelsea’s history. He led the club to an unlikely Champions League triumph in 2020/21, beating Manchester City in the final.

For that, he will have a place in the hearts of Chelsea fans around the world forever. That much could be seen in May – at the end of last season.
