On Tuesday, October 10, Holly Willoughby announced she’d be stepping down as lead presenter of This Morning after 14 years. She has been absent from the ITV flagship since last week, when a man was charged with solicitation to commit murder over an alleged plot to kidnap the TV presenter.Holly’s exit comes five months after This Morning was embroiled in scandal when her former co-host Phillip Schofield quit the show after admitting to lying about an affair with a younger colleague.
Phillip resigned from ITV and was removed as an ambassador for the Prince's Trust.In a lengthy statement posted to Instagram, Holly said that the decision to leave This Morning had been made “for me and my family”.
It is currently unknown whether she will continue to present reality show Dancing on Ice, which is returning to screens next year. Holly joined This Morning back in 2009 after previous host, Ferne Britton left the show. She then went on to form a successful on-screen partnership with Schofield, before co-hosting with the likes of Dermot O'Leary, Alison Hammond and Craig Doyle, amongst others, after he left the show.
