A hiking trail on the edge of Greater Manchester has been named among the best winter walks in the UK. The Trinnacle Trail on the outskirts of Oldham has been included in a list of five stunning winter hikes, with routes in the Lake District and Snowdonia also making the cut.

The list was compiled by experts at outdoor retailer Blacks to inspire those who are planning to kickstart their new year with healthy habits.

From stunning mountain trails to hidden waterfalls, all the walks featured in the list are spectacular to see during the winter months.

Located on the north-western edge of the Peak District, the route snakes around the Yeoman Hey and Greenfield Reservoirs, and of course, features the impressive Trinnacle, a three-pronged rock formation which overlooks the Greenfield Valley.
