Feyenoord legend Wim van Hanegem has warned his old club that Celtic won’t be a “cake walk” as he predicted an almighty Champions League battle in Rotterdam when the sides open their group stage campaign.

The ex Holland hero was part of the iconic team that became the first Dutch side to win the European Cup when they defeated Celtic in the 1970 final.

But he's warned the current Feyenoord side that Brendan Rodgers' team will not roll over in Rotterdam after being impressed by their Asian quartet. The Hoops open their Champions League group stage campaign with a difficult encounter in De Kuip against Arne Slot's Dutch champions.

Van Hanegem played in Milan in the final against Celtic 53 years ago where they won 2-1 after extra time after captain Rinus Israel soon cancelled out Tommy Gemmell's opener before Swedish striker Ove Kindvall grabbed the winner three minutes from the end of extra time to break Celtic hearts and stopped them winning what would have been their second European Cup in four years.
