Rhasidat Adeleke took a brilliant silver in the 400m final at the National Collegiate Athletic Association [NCAA] Championships in Albuquerque on Saturday night. The final was split into two heats of four competitors.
Running for the University of Texas, where she is in the second year of a scholarship, Adeleke won her race in 50.45.That time was bettered only by an unbelievable run from American Britton Wilson who won the other section in 49.48 - the second fastest indoor time in history. It's another major landmark for Ireland's Adeleke.
Two weeks ago she broke her own Irish record for the women's 400m by winning the Big 12 Conference final in Lubbock, Texas in a time of 50.33 seconds.Three weeks prior to that, the 20-year-old set a new Irish best performance at altitude in Albuquerque New Mexico of 50.45 seconds, which was quicker than her Irish outdoor record.
