Steven Gerrard has been tipped to take over from Patrick Vieira at Crystal Palace and his playing style could suit the English Premier League side.
The Frenchman was sacked earlier today after presiding over a 12-game winless run which stretched back to December last year.
Palace are currently in 12th position in the league but only three points above the relegation zone. Vieira's last game in charge was the defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday evening on the south coast.
Former Crystal Palace captain Paddy McCarthy will take charge of the their trip to Arsenal on Sunday following the sacking. Ex-Palace manager Roy Hodgson is the favourite to take over, but Gerrard and Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou are also in the betting.
