Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin on Tuesday said he's preparing this week as if Justin Fields will again start at quarterback, but he'll continue to monitor Russell Wilson's progress prior to Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

Wilson, who aggravated his calf injury last week and was designated as the emergency quarterback for the Steelers' opener against the Atlanta Falcons, «feels better today than over the weekend,» Tomlin said Tuesday.

Tomlin said the team would monitor Wilson's level and quality of participation in practice and then analyze whether he can protect himself and be productive.

Then they'll «ponder his inclusion,» Tomlin said. Wilson went through a 15-minute warmup prior to Sunday's game, testing his calf as he navigated a series of throws with Steelers equipment staffers before retreating to the locker room about 2½ hours before kickoff to tell Fields he would play.
