Stefan Payne bagged a brace for the third league game in a week as Faversham Town moved to within three points of top spot in the Premier Division on Saturday.

Payne, who joined from National League South Tonbridge at the start of September, struck twice in Faversham’s 5-2 win at Sutton Athletic as Sammy Moore’s men made it four successive league wins.

Payne opened the scoring at Sutton before Billy Bennett added a second before the break. Warren Mfula and Payne netted again early in the second half with Kieron Campbell completing their tally while Noah Hamelburg and Louis Lovell replied late on for the hosts.

Unbeaten Glebe remain top but they dropped points at home to bottom side Kennington in a 2-2 draw. Jamie Philpot’s brace took his tally for the season to seven but his goals came either side of two goals in six minutes from Kennington’s Ryan Philpott.
