Southern Counties East League: Stefan Payne scores twice again for Faversham Town, Glebe and Corinthian drop points, Welling Town get first win, Whitstable v Rusthall abandoned due to injury

Stefan Payne bagged a brace for the third league game in a week as Faversham Town moved to within three points of top spot in the Premier Division on Saturday.

Payne, who joined from National League South Tonbridge at the start of September, struck twice in Faversham’s 5-2 win at Sutton Athletic as Sammy Moore’s men made it four successive league wins.

Payne opened the scoring at Sutton before Billy Bennett added a second before the break. Warren Mfula and Payne netted again early in the second half with Kieron Campbell completing their tally while Noah Hamelburg and Louis Lovell replied late on for the hosts.

Unbeaten Glebe remain top but they dropped points at home to bottom side Kennington in a 2-2 draw.

Jamie Philpot’s brace took his tally for the season to seven but his goals came either side of two goals in six minutes from Kennington’s Ryan Philpott.

Fisher dropped to third after losing 2-0 at Punjab United, Youssouf Bamba and the evergreen Paul Vines scoring in either half.

Erith Town were held to a 1-1 draw at Lordswood after Ollie Milton’s opener was cancelled out by James Jeffrey with five minutes left.

Snodland are up to seventh with a game in hand after a 3-1 success at Tunbridge Wells.

First-half goals from Ed Mbango and Josh Jackson put Snodland in charge and while Billy Lewins
