The West Indies cricket team has recalled wicket-keeper batter Shai Hope and fast bowler Oshane Thomas for the five-match T20 series against India commencing on Thursday.

West Indies are currently hosting team India. The tour includes two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20I matches. India won the two-match Test series.

In the ODI series, the men in blue won the first match and the West Indies fought back well to win the second ODI. The third ODI will be played today to decide the winner of the series.

Hope is captain of the West Indies in 50-over cricket. He hasn't played a T20I for the Caribbean side since February last year, while Thomas is in line for his first international 20-over contest since December 2021.

Another outing for the Indian team, another disappointing show from Sanju Samson. The wicket-keeper batter failed to make an opportunity account yet again as the Indian team lost the deciding 5th T20I against West Indies by 8 wickets. With the series loss, many feel that the chances of Sanju Samson making the Indian team for the Asia Cup or the World Cup are also over. While Samson is to be blamed for throwing his wicket at times, West Indies had come up with a concrete plan to nullify him in the 5th T20I on Sunday.
Brandon King's superb unbeaten 85 led West Indies to an eight-wicket win over India on Sunday to secure a 3-2 victory in their T20I series. Set a target of 166 to win the fifth and deciding contest, in Lauderhill, Florida, West Indies reached their target with two overs to spare with Nicholas Pooran scoring 47 in a partnership of 107 with King. The win was a morale-booster for West Indies cricket after the one-day team failed, last month, to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in their history.

Suryakumar Yadav was back to his disdainful best as India stayed alive in the series with a seven-wicket win over the West Indies in the third T20I here on Tuesday. West Indies skipper Rovman Powell's whirlwind 40 not out off 19 balls pushed the hosts to 159 for five after Kuldeep Yadav (3/28) stemmed the flow of runs in the middle overs. Debutant Yashavi Jaiswal (1) and Shubman Gill (6) got out cheaply in run chase before Suryakumar came up with a special 83 off 44 balls to help India gun down the target in 17.5 overs. Tilak Varma (49 not out off 37) was happy to play second fiddle to his senior Mumbai Indians teammate in their 87-run stand. Tilak missed his second straight fifty in his debut series as skipper Hardik Pandya (20 not out off 15) hit the winning six.
India made some interesting changes going into the must-win match against West Indies in the third T20I of the five-match series.
