Seamus Power fit to take part in Open Championship

Seamus Power will be fit to compete in this week's Open Championship at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake after overcoming a hip problem.The Waterford man pulled out of the Scottish Open last week after just nine holes of his first round.Power practiced on the course this morning and told RTÉ Sport he was feeling considerably better compared to last week.The two-time winner on the PGA Tour is set to take his place alongside a host of Irish players.The 151st edition of the tournament will feature Rory McIlroy – fresh from his win in Scotland – as well as Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke and amateur Alex Maguire.Power made his first appearance in the Open when he missed the cut at St Andrews last year.
