Rory McIlroy has opted NOT to speak to the media after a disappointing day at the Open. The Northern Irishman broke Scottish hearts last week when he secured a victory in the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club, as homegrown hero Bob MacIntyre looked set to win the big prize.
Now at the Open in Liverpool, the former world number one golfer failed to make birdie at the last and finished on three under after a round of 69.
McIlroy has previously used the media to show his disdain for the LIV Golf movement, which bubbled up to the surface at the Scottish Open last week.
But the 34-year-old missed seven birdies putts from inside 17 feet across a tough day at the Open as he aims to end his drought in the majors.
