Scottie Scheffler has been confirmed as the 2022 PGA Tour Player of the Year. Following the conclusion of the PGA Tour season at the Tour Championship, Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Cameron Smith were named on a three-man shortlist for the award.
Ad McIlroy had a series of near misses in the majors in 2022, most notably at the Open Championship, but he became the first man to claim the FedEx Cup on three occasions when winning the Tour Championship at East Lake.
